lately haf been thinking a lot abt wad i'm gonna do after i grad.. dun think i'll be able to do honors so i'll probably be joining the working class next yr.. ytd while waiting for the protein to bind to the resin beads mixture shaking in the machine for an hour, me and other frens from the lab were discussing abt it.. 2 of them gonna grad this sem la.. so envious.. =p anyway, we came to the same conclusion: a degree in life sci is pretty useless w/o a masters or Ph.D... even with a Ph.D u might not get far. u can spend 20 yrs researching and finally earn a patent for urself, or u may nv get one.


so we started to look at it from the other way: abt wad we cannot do with a life sci degree.. and we came up with : Law, engin, medicine and dentistry. so dat makes the rest available to us haha.. but the both of them r gg to start their own business. in fact one of them (andrew) aleadi has a shop.. and the other one (yunxiu) says his is in planning.. haiz they both got plans aleadi, while i'm juz bumming around. as compared to them, i know too little and i'm too naive. sigh.. it's no wonder they all call me 'xiao mei mei'. it doesnt help dat the 2 other females in our group are all peishan-type.. smart and hardworking. in fact, one of them IS peishan! haha...


and den while waiting for another gel to run, we were toking to carol abt the prospects of life sci.. there's basically onli 2 routes la...: get an honours and do research.. or go into sales for biotech products. and carol was telling us how terrible research work was.. she suggested dat if we din realli like research, or rather, if we do not LOVE research with all our heart, please do NOT join research work cuz it's torturous, even for ppl who like life sci.. i wonder wad NUS did to her. she seemed so traumatised.. anyway, if we do not like neither of those 2 choices, we better start to learn smthg else.. so the 2 "lao ban"s were saying "onli doing business can make u rich! go n do business la!".. and they asked if i wanna join in and open a 2nd shop wif them. ... ... do i look like a 'lao ban' to u? haha..


as usual, all questions and no answers.. but to get answers we need infomation. so i guess i gotta gain more experience 1st ba... juz a side note: i think i'm carol's fav student! haha! cuz i'm the onli one she doesnt scold =p hmm.. mabe she thinks i'll cry if she scold me. haha.. but i realli think she's the few good TAs around.. half the TAs there cant teach for nuts lo.. in fact some of them are as blur as me, which is not good.. =p
